In our last episode, we talked about the word, ‘virtual’ and what virtual means in terms of technology. In this episode, I want to follow up on that and answer this question: why did all of this business Tech go virtual? So let’s let’s explore those reasons a little further again.
In our last episode I broke down the word virtual and what that means in terms of business technology. Many businesses have adopted this practice, while others maybe not. What we want to explore here is why did most of these systems and solutions go virtual or go the hosted route. I’ve had the opportunity to witness business Tech evolving for over 30 years now many reliable and Brilliant phone systems have come and gone along with servers and computer operating systems like as400. There’s no question that these products carried businesses in their time. We live however in a competitive and ever-changing environment. In my opinion one of the main drivers for change is flexibility. Businesses are Dynamic and they’re fast-paced. No one for example wants to wait around for a tech to stop by their office to make changes on an email server a phone system or on a workstation. Now mind you, our business and other vendors certainly go out on service calls from time to time but these days we don’t have to go out with near the frequency that we used to in years past.
Anytime we can help a client update his or her system remotely we’re saving everyone time and money. With faster remote response the virtual phone server which is connected to both our technicians and the end user makes quick changes and fixes possible. Everything is again virtual. These technical advantages have created new realities in our business and for any techs who work with computers software or phone systems. As long as the client and vendor have reliable and secure internet access the virtual options flexibility cannot be ignored. This is why especially since 2020 we have seen a paradigm shift in our own industry. Tech support needs and other technician needs have changed to reflect the new virtual reality.
So why is everything going virtual? I mentioned flexibility at the top of the program. Here we can make changes remotely faster, easier, and better. We can help end users work from anywhere. We can lower the total cost of ownership. Businesses can rent what they specifically need and avoid overspending. For example, if a business has 50 users and only needs services for those 50 users, they no longer have to go to the larger server or the larger system that’s meant for 50 to 150 users. And that leads us to scalability. We can lower or add to your business needs as users come and go. You avoid holding on to unnecessary equipment or being stuck with contract volume commitments that you no longer need.
