Here’s a basic review of Yealink WH62 mono headset.
For those folks interested in using a headset or for those who want to ditch the wired versions and go with a bluetooth unit the Yealink is a great option. We review all the basics, strengths and weaknesses, useful range, battery life and ease of use. The Yealink’s WH62 mono headset has one one earpiece and that’s my personal preference because I can hear my conversation and still hear other folks in my office.
There’s a WH63 that Yealink provides that has two two earpieces and you’ll find similar options throughout Yealink’s line, Jabra’s line and the Poly line as well. Since I have a Yealink desk phone it just made sense to go with a Yealink headset to ensure compatibility. This is a really nice unit because not only does it work perfectly with my Yealink phone I can also use this to integrate it with my laptop.
So I can use this unit on a team’s call or a Zoom call or any other web-based call. There’s a computer icon on the headset base station I can select so I can connect a softphone call with the headset. There are different controls for mute, hold and volume on the base station a charging station. There are electronic connectors on the headset that link to the charging piece on the headset cradle. Once the green light activates then I know the unit is charging. I’m charging I have not had an opportunity to work this uh extensively but I’m assured this has about six or seven hours worth of battery life. If I want to make calls outside of headset mode I can press the headset key off and I can use the desk phone normally.
The headset mouthpiece is aslo well designed and includes several functions. For example, if I’m doing other things and I don’t want to use the unit I can bring up the mouthpiece up to the ear to disable headset calls. If I bring the mouthpiece back down then the unit and desk phone activate headset mode automatically. This feature eliminates any need for those annoying headset lifter devices.
So, I’ve found this unit is a pretty handy device. I found that the call quality is real nice and it’s very comfortable. There’s plenty of battery life and there’s also plenty of range. In my office I found I can have a clear conversation while walking to our mail center located the our least 150 ft away down the hall. I’m using the Yealink because that’s easily compatible with the Yealink phone. Again, there are similarly priced options from Poly and Jabra which are also very good. I would recommend a headset unit that comes that works with both your laptop and the desk phone. You’ll pay a few more dollars for that feature but in the end you’re going to be finding a lot more productivity if you can use the headset for both devices. If you have any questions let us know.
