All the 50 series phones have a Wi-Fi capability which means theoretically I no longer need a data plug going into a data port on the phone. I can get on the corporate Wi-Fi and I can use my phone wirelessly. We’re not endorsing this yet. We have not had a chance to test so I’ll have another update on that in a video down the road.
Notice that these new phones no longer a toggle switch for the handset. We’re not sure why this was phased out. I’m assuming some type of a magnetic piece in the handset cradle controls the on/off function of the handset. it must be embedded in the phone. So for those who are accustomed to the old lifter sets they are no longer part of the new Poly phones. We can’t say if that’s a good or bad thing It’s just part of the phone’s evolution. We still have some backwards compatibility. I can daisy chain my device through a computer.
So, if I’m low on data ports in my office I can use the phone as an internet source with another device. There’s an RJ9 plug for an old-fashioned wired headset. I still have all the necessary ports I need. If your environment does require a power adapter your power adapter plugs in the corresponding port.
This E series also has a USB port but if we take a closer look at this this is not the old USB A port. This is the newer USB C port. So if you’re like me I’m sure you’ve got a lot of USB A-type devices out there. So you may want to get an A to C adapter to plug in older device. You could upload things like contact lists or other pieces of information for your directory.
There’s much more to see and learn about these new phones from Poly. If you have any quesitons please contact RAM today for more information.
