Call handling in the Poly e-series is essentially identical to the last generation of Polycom phones. During a live call I can see there’s capacity for additional calls in the display. As we’ve seen with prior generations of poly phones the additional phone calls cascade down in the display. I can put a call on hold and select the next call using the arrow button. All the traditional call handling functions (hold, transfer and cancel) are still available on hard keys and soft key controls. For example, I can put my party on hold then I can resume the call with the same key. I still have a transfer key away I go and I can pick up the call at any time.
So, the same functionality is here. One thing that I like with the new phone updated message display. I still have an indicator of messages but it’s much more subtle than what we had in the past. For those of you who remember the blinking red light in the upper right hand corner this style indicator is a little bit more subtle and a little less distracting. Additionally, my message indicator now tells me exactly how many messages are waiting for me to review. I can still review messages by selecting message key and follow the prompts. I have a redial key (thank goodness) so I can redial my last party. I still buttons for all our usual functions.
Poly had the good sense to preserve the ccore functions of the past and avoid making any monumental changes. The enhancements seem logical and these devices are still well built and should handle daily use – especially in retail environments. If you have any questions please let us know.
