Follow these tips before you sign on the bottom line!
1. Where is the phone ‘stuff’?
Where does the infrastructure reside in your new building? More importantly, can you find it?
2. Make sure you do a careful and complete walk thru of the new office space.
Make sure you not only know where the telecom is located but also make sure you know where Nicor and ComEd comes into your building.
It is illegal to remove any utilities without the permission of the utility provider. RAM has seen several cases where AT&Ts local infrastructure has been removed. If this is the case it is up to the owner of the building to replace the infrastructure.
Do NOT let building management put the onus on you, the tenant, because the phone utility box is part of the building property.
